Become a "Skilled" Therapy Dog Team

The Therapy Dog 2 group class is ideal for handler-dog teams preparing for a therapy dog evaluation, or already volunteering. Classes contain information on the therapy dog approval process in Northumberland. Further, there will be a personalized emphasis addressing participant’s specific needs. Participants are invited to email Elizabeth with their selected skill(s) for coverage during the class, e.g. not jumping up, not licking, being hugged, approaching wheel chairs. All this is designed to assist the handler and dog to work together in a confident relationship, developing the knowledge and polishing the skills necessary to be an excellent therapy dog team. Classes are a maximum of four handler-dog teams, thereby allowing personalized attention. 

Please bring to class, small soft treats in a pouch.

The Therapy Dog 1: Canine Good Neighbour Preparation class is not required, but is a good foundation for this Therapy  Dog 2: Volunteering Skills class.
