This class is ideal for handler-dog teams approaching a therapy dog evaluation, or already volunteering. Classes include information on the therapy dog approval process in Northumberland. Further, there will be a personalized emphasis addressing participant’s specific challenges. Participants are invited to communicate to Elizabeth their desired focus for coverage during the class, e.g. jumping up, being hugged, approaching wheel chairs. All this is designed to assist the handler and dog to work together in a confident relationship, developing the knowledge and polishing the skills necessary to be an excellent therapy dog team.
Please bring to class, small soft treats in a pouch.
The Therapy Dog 1: Canine Good Neighbour Preparation class is not required, but is a good step towards this Therapy Dog 2: Advanced Volunteering Skills class.
